The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
Proverbs 9:10
9 Then the Lord God called to the man, and said to him, “Where are you?”
10 He said, “I heard the sound of You in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself.”
Genesis 3:6-10
Adam did not show fear toward God until he ate the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Our fear of God demonstrates recognition of our sinfulness AND His holiness. Fear of God is the beginning of wisdom...
Without recognizing our sinfulness, we would not seek to see the world from a different perspective, His perspective...which is wisdom... We would think ourselves wise but be truly foolish.
Lord,
Open our hearts to Your wisdom and our minds to knowledge of You as we pursue those opportunities to do the good which You have prepared for us to do.
